Hey there, friends! It’s me, Chubs—your favorite four-legged correspondent with the cross on his forehead and, apparently, a lot to say. I’ve got some hoof-tastic news to share!
So, you know how my feet have been… let’s say, “less than stellar”? Last winter was rough—every step was like walking on pebbles, and not the fun crunchy kind you’d find on a trail. I’m talking the ouchy, make-you-want-to-stand-still-forever kind. But this year? Oh, this year, things are different.
The farrier came by this week, and let me tell you, I’m not usually thrilled about his visits. I mean, imagine someone banging on your feet with a hammer and telling you, “It’s for your own good.” It’s a little unsettling, right? But here’s the thing—he’s not wrong. He said my soles are growing thicker and stronger, and guess what? No foot pain this winter! NONE. Not even a twinge.

I have to admit, though, when he’s working on my shoes, I sometimes get nervous. The sound of nails being driven in? Yikes. You’d think it would hurt, but nope—it’s like magic. (Not the hocus-pocus kind, just the “I can walk without wincing” kind.) Still, every time I hear that hammering, I have this moment of should I panic? Is this normal? But then I remember: I’ve got the best team on my side. Emmy, my farrier, and yes, even God—they’re all working together to keep me comfy and happy.
And you know what? Prayers work, y’all. Emmy prays for me all the time, and I know because she whispers it in my ear. (She also tells me I’m handsome, but that’s another story.) God’s been helping me one shoe at a time. Without my special shoes and comfy pads, I’d be stuck in the stall, dreaming of adventures instead of going on them.
So, here’s a little life lesson from yours truly: sometimes it’s hard to trust the process. It’s noisy, a little scary, and you don’t always understand what’s happening. But the people (and God) who care about you have a plan, even when you don’t see it. And if you’re lucky, that plan might just include some cozy shoes that make the whole journey a lot smoother.
Until next time, keep trotting forward, friends. And if you see a farrier, give him a nicker of thanks (or, you know, don’t bite him—that works, too).
Hoof-bumps and blessings,
