“They Turned Me Into a Bunny…”

Howdy, friends. It’s me. Chubs. A pony of purpose. A dignified equine. A freedom-loving free spirit.

And this week… a bunny.
Yes. You read that right. A bunny.

Now I’ve been called a lot of things in my time—short, fluffy, “too smart for his own good,” “stop eating that,” and “get out of the feed room!” But never, in all my days, did I imagine the hoomans would dress me up in white bunny ears and declare it was for something called Easter.

Apparently, Easter is a hooman thing where they hide eggs, eat chocolate, and—here’s the strange part—celebrate by dressing up perfectly respectable ponies like rabbits.

Did I get a say in this? No.
Did I try to run? Also no. (I kind of regret that choice.)
Did I get snacks for participating? Yes. Carrots. So… I stayed. Begrudgingly.

But in all the silliness, I did catch one thing that made my pony heart feel mighty full. The big hooman leaned down, scratched behind my ears, and said, “He is Risen.”
And that’s the real reason they celebrate Easter. Not for the eggs or the ears. Not even for the chocolate—though I hear it’s delicious.

Nope. It’s because Jesus, the One who gives second chances and hope and love that never ends, walked right out of the grave. He is alive.

And that means the hoomans smile a little brighter. Love a little deeper. And sometimes… yes… dress their ponies like bunnies in celebration.

So I suppose I can forgive them this time. The snacks helped.

Anyway. The ears are off now. The snacks were worth it. And I suppose if it made the hoomans smile, it wasn’t so bad after all.

Still, if I hear the words “Fourth of July outfit” next, I’m galloping straight into the hills.
