Fall Is Coming… and So Is My Fuzz

Hey friends, it’s Chubs again.

Have you felt it? The breeze is a little cooler, the sun sets a little earlier, and the flies are finally giving us a tiny bit of a break. That can only mean one thing…

Fall is coming. 🍂

I can feel it in my hooves—and also on my back, where the first few fuzzy hairs are already starting to grow in. Yep, it’s happening. The Fluffening. Soon I’ll be waddling around with a full-blown pony coat, looking like a teddy bear with opinions.

But honestly? I kind of love fall.

Trail rides in the cooler air? Yes, please. The crunchy leaves, the smell of distant campfires, the fact that I can trot longer without getting sweaty? Ideal. It’s the season where ponies like me shine. Literally. My coat gets very reflective.

But with all good things, there’s a catch.

The grass. It starts to fade. Turn brown. Disappear. And I know what comes next…

Winter.

Now, don’t get me wrong. Winter has its perks. I get extra hay. I get to make dramatic snorting noises when the wind hits my nose. But I also get… The Blanket.

You know the one. Big. Purple. Fluffy.

My little girl loves it. She says I look “adorable” and “majestic” and “like a prince in royal robes.” I say I look like a velvet sofa. But do I stand still and let her put it on anyway? Of course I do. Because I’m a gentleman. A fuzzy, slightly grumpy, sofa-shaped gentleman.

So I’m soaking up the last of the green grass while I can. Enjoying these perfect September days before the world turns frosty and blanketed. Literally.

Fall, you’ve got my heart (and soon, most of my hair).

Until next time—stay warm, stay snacky, and start preparing emotionally for blanket season.
