About

Hi there, I’m Chubs! You might say I’ve got a story of faith, hope, and broccoli. 🥦

I was a ranch horse before I found myself at a place the other horses called an auction. It was a scary experience—a man was yelling out gibberish and numbers while another one was riding me. Eventually, I was sold to someone the other horses called a “Kill Buyer.” I’ve overheard people say I was never in danger of being shipped for slaughter—whatever that means—but the Kill Buyer had intended to put me into training and sell me to someone else. Unfortunately, he got sick and couldn’t take care of me. A friend of his, who owns a rescue, asked if she could find me a home, and thankfully, he agreed.

While at that rescue, I was unsure of what was next. My life hadn’t been the smoothest, but I kept my faith. Then, one cold and windy day, a kind woman and her little girl showed up. They saw me, tested me, and took me on a six-hour journey to my forever home. That’s when my story truly began.

These days, I’m living proof of God’s blessings. I’ve got a cross on my forehead, which I think is God’s way of saying, “You’re special, Chubs.” I love Jesus and thank Him daily for this amazing life filled with trail rides, swimming adventures, and lots of love.

Now, I’m thriving. I’ve got a cross on my forehead to remind everyone that I’m one of God’s creations (and let’s be honest, one of His best, if I say so myself).

My hooves are a little tender, so I wear special shoes, but they let me do everything I love—trail rides, swimming, and showing off my moves. Because of my tender feet, I can’t have all the regular horse treats of apples and carrots or anything with a lot of sugar, so lettuce and broccoli are my favorite foods when I’m allowed to eat them. My little human thinks my veggie obsession is weird, but she’s still figuring out how perfect I am.

I also have an awesome buddy named Finnick, and together, we enjoy this incredible life. Jesus has blessed me in more ways than I can count, and I’m grateful every day.
