A May Meadow Devotional from Yours Truly, Chubs
Howdy, friends. It’s me again—Chubs. Resident pony. Snack enthusiast. And, apparently, philosopher.
Now, I was out in the pasture the other day, minding my own business, doing what I do best—munching. The grass was fresh, the breeze was soft, and I was having a moment with the Lord and my lunch.
Then I heard the hoomans.
“Oh no,” one said, pointing to a big ol’ patch of clover and dandelions.
“Weeds,” she sighed. “We’ll have to pull those.”
Now hold on just a minute. Weeds? Those tasty little sunshine-colored blooms and sweet green leaves? Those are my favorite snacks.
I couldn’t help but think: Some things the hoomans call weeds are the same things I call delicious. Just saying.
And it got me thinking—maybe life works like that too.
Sometimes there are things in our lives that look messy. Out of place. Unwanted. Hard moments. Delays. Plans that go sideways. To us, they might look like weeds in an otherwise perfectly mowed pasture.
But what if those “weeds” are exactly what we need? What if the things we’d rather pull out and be done with are actually growing us into who we’re meant to be?
God doesn’t waste a thing.
Not the setbacks.
Not the detours.
Not the prickly, stubborn patches of life that don’t look how we hoped.
He’s the Master Gardener. And even when things look like a mess to us, He sees the bigger plan. Sometimes the blessings don’t show up with petals and polish. Sometimes they come with roots in the dirt and a label that says “weed.”
But trust me… they might just be the sweetest thing in the field.
So next time life looks a little wild—next time the pasture doesn’t seem perfect—
Look again. There might be something good growing in a place you didn’t expect.
Love and dandelions,
